Beatrice M. Carter – Oolitic
Beatrice M. Carter, 86, of Oolitic, passed away at 10:40 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 18, 1925 in Virginia, she was the daughter of Fred and Sallie (Agee) Tillett. She married Jesse Carter on September 27, 1952 and he survives. She retired as an x-ray technician from Central Foundry after 20 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and UAW Local 44. She attended the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse, of Oolitic, a daughter, Jonny Carter Parks, of Marietta, GA.; two grandchildren, Jessica Parks and Kyle Parks, both of Georgia; one great grandson, Aidan Mehthof, of Georgia; two brothers, Paul E. Tillett and Fred R. Tillett Jr., both of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Lindsey J. Carter.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday Nov. 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Roberta P. “Bert” Lenz – Bedford
Roberta P. “Bert” Lenz, 96, of Bedford, passed away at 7:49 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born February 20, 1915 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Harry C. and Mable K. (Sipes) Allen. She married Robert F. Lenz on September 18, 1937 and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1973. She retried after 35 years of service with Indiana Bell (Ameritech). She was a member fo the First Christian Church Lydia Circle, Ludeans, Telephone Pioneers and Priscilla.
Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Jane Ferguson and husband, Gene, Deborah Kay Marrs and husband, Dave, all of West Chester, OH; one sister, Marilyn A. Olson, of Bedford; two grandsons, Jason and Matt Ferguson; three great grandchildren, Conner, Joshua and Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Jack L. and Robert E. Allen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Robert Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Michael Vern Rouse – Bedford
Michael Vern Rouse, 64, of Bedford, passed away at 2:47 a.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born January 11, 1947 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Rollo Vern Rouse and Nora Evelyn (Scott) Cochran. He first married Evelyn Ewilda Stanley in 1969 and she preceded him in death. He then married Deborah Anne Clark and she survives. He retired from the Bedford Post Office in 2008. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1988 after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife Deborah, of Bedford; his mother , Nora Cochran, of Kentucky; one step-daughter, Deborah Stanley Scott and her husband Paul of Terre Haute; two step-sons, Felix Andrew Flores of California and Steven P. Flores and his wife Hope, of Bedford; grandchildren, Sergio, Esteban, Martel, Keanna, Riquelle and Alicea; step-grandchildren, Army, Kristian and P.J; siblings Rebecca Rickard, of Illinois, Metidy Johnson, of FL.; four half-sisters, Pam O’Daniel of Kentucky, Cindy Chastain, Marilyn Cochran-Kase and Elaine Linville, all of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, first wife and step-son James W. Stanley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Military rites will be accorded following the service by members of Gillen Post #33 American legion. The family has chosen cremation with burial at Green Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
