Mary Ruth Lewis – Bedford
Mary Ruth Lewis, 92, of Bedford, died at 12:02 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Johnson’s Christian Village.
Born October 15, 1919 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ray and Rose (Wagoner) Simmons. She married Bert Lewis on November 16, 1935. After 72 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on February 18, 2008. She was a homemaker and a life-long member of the Bedford Free Methodist Church. She was a member of the Department Club and Phi Beta Kappa Sorority.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Rose Colgan and husband, David of Bedford; grandchildren, Mark and his wife Kathy Colgan, of Upland, Deron and his wife Jennifer Colgan, of Terre Haute, Amy Colgan, of Bedford, Bryan and his wife Brenda Lewis, of Buckley, IL., Ann Marie Lewis and Thomas Lewis; great grandchildren, David, Katie, Mary, Maggie and Molly Colgan; foster daughter, Ruthie Sanders and husband Lloyd and their children, Kim Schmidt and husband Jay; and their children, Jason Sanders and wife Becky and their children all of Seymour; two brothers, Ray Simmons Jr. and wife Peggy, of Bedford, Viv Simmons of North Manchester; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Billy Ray Lewis, three brothers, Lowell, Forty and Doyle Simmons.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 5th at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford with Pastors David Colgan and Deron Colgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 4th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, Nov. 5th at the Free Methodist Church in Bedford.

Hazel I. Terrell – Orleans
Hazel I Terrell, 87, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born August 6, 1924, in Chaplin, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Nevel and Osie (Moore) Coulter. She married Ruel Terrell and he preceded her in death February, 1980.
She had been employed at Essex and was a member of the Orleans Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her children, Kathy Ashabraner, of Orleans, Jeff and his wife Ladeanna Terrell, of San Leon, of Texas, Tim Terrell, Orleans, Martha and her husband Kenneth Terry, of Bedford; daughter in law, Lisa Terrell, of Vidor, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Terrell; sister, Edith Terrell; and brothers, John Coulter and Royston Coulter.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Chastain, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers: Jeremy Ashabraner, Chris Terrell, Dylan Terrell, Dakota Newbolds, Jacob Sears, Trey Terrell, and Derrick Hobson.
Family members are asking that memorial gifts be considered to the Alzheimers Association in Hazel’s memory.

Ada Mae Hamilton – Bedford
Ada Mae Hamilton, 85, of Bedford, died at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born October 14, 1926 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Wright) Ashcraft. She married Ora B. Hamilton, on February 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2010. She retired from NWSC Crane and was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Ora Hamilton and wife Vickie, of Heltonville, Timothy Mark Hamilton and wife, Teri, of Springville; four grandchildren, Traci Graves, of Springville, Crystal Siegfred and husband, Kyle of Trafalgar, Traven Hamilton and wife Annette, of Bedford, Hunter Hamilton, of Heltonville; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Easton, of Bedford and Margaret Allen of Owensburg; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold G. and Walter L. Ashcraft and two grandchildren (in infancy).
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 at the Owensburg Cemetery with Pastor Charlie Scott officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Hillcrest Christian Church in Ada Mae’s memory.
