The following obituaries were received for Thursday –


Thomas C. Hughes – Bedford
Thomas C. Hughes, 67, of Bedford, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at his home.
Born March 14, 1944 in Bedford, he was the son of Cecil C. and Josephine (Taylor) Hughes. He married Merle Ann Watson on January 8, 1983 and she survives. He retired from NWSC Crane and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as SFC 1st Class Sgt. during the Vietnam War.
Surviors include his wife, Merle, of Bedford; three sons, Jesse, Bryan and Tommy Lee (Laura) Hughes, all of Needmore; three daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Blanton, Vonda (Brain) Bunch and Fonda (Max) Drehobl, all of Bedford; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother Denny (Joyce) Hughes, of Crane; one sister, Joyce (John) Sams, of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and David Hughes.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with David Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded at the gravesite by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 4th and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, Nov. 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Stanley B. McVicker – Bedford
Stanley B. McVicker, 75, of Bedford, died at 4:07 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 30, 1936, in Illinois, he was the son of Cecil Brenton and Georgia (Wright) McVicker. He married Mabel Frances Wagner on October 19, 1956 and she survives. He retired as a supervisor from Ameritech after 35 years. He was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #24 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Telephone Pioneers of America and past president of the White River Humane Society.
Survivors include his wife Frances, of Bedford, a daughter, Belinda Swango and husband Mike, of Bedford; two sisters, Anne McVicker and Brenda Carol Sowers, both of Arizona; a brother, Joe McVicker, of Canton, GA., a sister-in-law, Pat McVicker of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy McVicker.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with pastor Jim Stevens officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, November 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A Masonic service will be conduced at 2 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
