Charles L. Knight – Mitchell
Charles L. Knight of Mitchell passed away on Monday, May 9th at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 87. Born in 1924 in Bedford to Lawrence and Clara Knight, he had been married to Virginia McMinds since 2001, was a restaurant manager for 30 years, was in real estate sales for 17 years and was a member of the Board of Realtors until his retirement. He was a graduate of Mitchell High School in the class of 1942 and was a member of the Mitchell Presbyterian Church. Charles was also a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 250. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Janet Noe and her husband Charlie; step children, Mark Riker and his wife Denise, Peter McMinds III and his wife Lisa, Jennifer Horton and Patricia Stanley and her husband Stuart; as well as several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Pauline May and Katherine Byers. Funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, May 13th in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mitchell Cemetery and military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday and from 9:30AM until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
