Oren Hatfield – Bedford
Oren Hatfield of Bedford passed away on Wednesday, January 19th at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 84. Born in 1926 in Lawrence County to Oren and Lillian Hatfield, he had been married to Dorothy Williams since 1947, was a Tool & Die Maker at GM Powertrain, and was also a minister at Liberty Baptist Church. Oren was also a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and was enlisted with the Navy. He is survived by three sons, James Hatfield, Timothy Hatfield and David Hatfield; two daughters, Sandra Mundell and Brenda Sue; two sisters, Bonnie Hatfield and Rosemary Hatfield; as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one brother, Warren Hatfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, January 22nd at Englewood Baptist Church with burial to follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, January 21st at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home.
Mildred Stone
Mildred Stone passed away on Wednesday, January 19th at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 81. Born in 1929 to Russell and Anna Swango, she had been married to Ralph Fenander since 1952 and later to Carl Stone in 1984. Mildred was retired from Bank One as a new account representative, was a member of the Hillcrest Christian Church and was a long time member of the New Union Christian Church. She is survived by one sister, Doris Hampton; one sister-in-law, Gail Swango; one step-son, Jeff Stone; as well as several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands and two brothers, Quincey and Olin Swango. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 22nd in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in New Union Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, January 21st at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Betty JoAnn Walther – Orleans
Betty JoAnn Walther of Orleans passed away at 6:00PM on Tuesday, January 18th at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital at the age of 76. Born in 1934 in Martin County to Joseph and Ruby Barlow, she had been married to Harry Walther since 1952 and had been employed at Hospitality House and Mitchell Manor and was a member of the Harvest Community Church. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Stroud and her husband Glenn, Harrietta Crane and her husband John, Linda Crane and her husband Bill, Kimberlia Hardy and her husband Tony; one sister, Imogene Powell and her husband Robert; as well as several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Cynthia Graves and brothers, Dale Barlow and Robert Barlow. Funeral services will be held at 6:00PM on Saturday, January 22nd in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday at Clark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00PM until the hour of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
