The following obituaries were received on Monday.


Gerald Gene Walls – Bedford
Gerald Gene Walls of Bedford passed away on Saturday, December 18th at his residence at the age of 70. Born in 1940 in Lawrence County to Daisy Walls, he had been married to Herley Robertson since 1965, had previously worked at Indiana Steel and attended Guidepoint Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Tammy Walls; three sons, Gerald Walls, Timothy Walls and Eugene Robertson; one step-daughter, Suzette Phillpott; brother-in-law, Harley Robertson; one sister-in-law, Sherry Robertson; as well as several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; one daughter, Alphie Robertson; one infant son, Gerald Walls; one sister-in-law, Brenda Robertson; as well as several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 21st at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bryantsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00PM until the hour of service on Tuesday, December 21st at the funeral home.
Ralph E. Erwin – Mitchell
Ralph E. Erwin of Mitchell passed away on Saturday, December 18th at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 87. Born in 1923 in Mitchell to Frederick Ralph and Levina Erwin, he had been married to JoAnn Vest since 1947, was retired from Lehigh Cement Company and had been employed at Roberts Brass. Ralph was also a graduate of Mitchell High School, was a member of the First Baptist Church and Hoosier Hills Amateur Radio Club, was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, was a member of the 749th Tank Battalion, was a recipient of five Bronze Stars and was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 250. He is survived by his wife; one son, Eric Erwin and his wife, Lynn; one daughter, Jeanie Woods and her husband J.D.; as well as several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Erwin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 22nd at the First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors to be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday at the Chastain Funeral Home and from 10:00AM until the hour of service on Wednesday.
