John Kirk – Mitchell
John Kirk of Mitchell, known to friends and family as “Junior” passed away Tuesday morning, April 13th at his residence at the age of 83. Born in 1926 in Lawrence County to parents John and Effie Kirk, he had been married to Lynida Wyvonne since 1965. John was retired from Kirk’s Radio and TV Repair and as a technician at Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane. He also attended First Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife; one son, Larry Kirk; as well as two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ruby Strange, Floyd Kirk, Faye Kirk, Ernest Kirk, Ruth Hargesheimer, Mary Ann Aliano and Belle Newlin. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 17th at Mitchell Cemetery at 11:00AM. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday at Chastain Funeral Home.
Ora Hamilton – Bedford
Ora Hamilton of Bedford passed away on Tuesday at his residence at the age of 85. Born in 1925 in Martin County to parents Bert and Fairene Hamilton, he had been married to Ada Mac Ashcraft since 1947. Ora was a heavy equipment operator for 65 years, a lifetime member of I.U.O.E. Local #181 and was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Michael Ora and his wife Vickie, Timothy Mark and his wife Teri; as well as several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; his parents; two sisters, Barbara Jean Terrell and Viola Mae Rambeaut; two brothers, Richard and Robert Hamilton. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 1:00PM in the Owensburg Cemetery with burial to follow. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, April 16th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Charles Cazee – Bedford
Charles Cazee of Bedford passed away Monday afternoon, April 12th at Bedford Regional Medical Center at the age of 81. Born in 1929 in Bedford to Orlando and Thelma Cazee, he had been married to Ruth Sipes since 1950. Charles was retired from Cummings News Agency, was a graduate of Bedford High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and attended Free Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Betty Inman and her husband Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, David Cazee. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 16th at 2:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, April 15th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Mildred Elizabeth Weddle – Bedford
Mildred Elizabeth Weddle of Bedford passed away Wednesday evening at White River Lodge at the age of 96. Born in 1914 in Bedford to parents George Otto and Jennie Hubbard, she had been married to Elbert Fleetwood and later Edgar Weddle. Mildred was a graduate of Bedford High School in the class of 1932, was of Apostolic faith. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ellen Hudson; one son, Elisha Otto Fleetwood; as well as several as several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Warren Edgar; one sister, Marie Turpen; brothers, Bill, Warren, Oliver, Cledius and Wendel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19th at 1:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Gilgal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Sunday, April 18th and from noon until the hour of service on Monday, April 19th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Anna L. Hilderbrand – Norman
Anna L. Hilderbrand of Norman passed away Saturday afternoon, April 10th at Dunn Memorial Hospital at the age of 65. Born in 1944 to Elisha and Callie Morris, she was a graduate of Shawswick High School and was a member of New Hope Church. She is survived by her husband, Richard; two daughters, Vivian Carden and Christina Patel; as well as several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Hilderbrand; three sisters, Lilly Blair, Geneva LaBuda and Jean Wasson; as well as one brother, Virgil Morris. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3:00PM at Jones Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at 2:00PM on Friday.
Charles Lawhead – Bedford
Charles Lawhead of Bedford passed away Wednesday morning, April 14th at Garden Villa at the age of 84. Born in 1926 in Bedford to Edward and Bessie Lawhead, he had been married to Norma Norman since 1996. Charles was retired from NWSC Crane, was a school bus driver, was a life-time member of the Elks Club and was a veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Nova Parish; five step-children and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sister and four brothers. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 16th at 1:00PM at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with entombment to follow. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until 12:45PM on Friday, April 16th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Jewell Evelyn Gilbert – Bedford
Jewell Evelyn Gilbert of Bedford passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 14th at her residence at the age of 86. Born in 1923 in Clay County, Kentucky to John and Rhoda Morris, she had been married to Billy Gilbert since 1944 and was retired from Sarkes Tarzian and was a member of Oolitic Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Bill, Wally and Ron; as well as several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Roberts, John, Willie, Charles and Tom; five sisters, Haley, Minerva, Annie, Flora and Edith. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19th at 10:00AM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 8:00PM on Sunday, April 18th and from 9:00AM until the hour of service on Monday, April 19th at the funeral home.
