Lester Mitchell, 82, Bedford

Lester Wayne Mitchell, known to friends and family as “Coke”, passed away Monday evening, November 16th at his residence at the age of 82.


Born in 1927 in Bedford to parents Morton C. and Dessie (Cain) Mitchell, Lester had been married to Avanell Olson since 1948.
He was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1946, retired from Q.T. Tool in Bedford as a tool and cutter grinder, was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM for over 50 years, was a former member of the Bedford Elks Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose and Jay Cees.
Lester is survived by his wife; three daughters, Brenda Stogsdill and her husband Jim, Debbie “Red” Miller and her husband Steve, Cheryl Strickler; three grandchildren; one great grandson and a close personal friend, Debi Deer.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hazel Murray and Helen Houston.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20th at 10:00AM from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, November 19th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
A Masonic service will be conducted on Thursday, November 19th at 7:30PM at Day & Carter Mortuary.
