Forest W Mathews “Fade”, 93, Bedford

Forest W. Mathews of Bedford, known to friends and family as Fade, passed away Thursday afternoon at Stonebridge Health Campus at the age of 93.


Born in 1916 in Lawrence County to parents Dewey and Ruth Mathews, Forest was in the auto parts business selling Mac Tools, was a graduate of Bedford High School in the class of 1934, a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII with the 514th Field Artillery Battalion, and a member of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Mathews; three sons, Cladie and his wife Phyllis; Mark and his wife Martha; Dan and his wife Kristi; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a special aunt Liberty.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Doris.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 AM at Fergusson – Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation Monday, July 6th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fergusson – Lee Funeral Home.
