William Joseph Scott of Mitchell, known to friends and family as “Bill,” passed away Thursday morning at Bloomington Hospital at the age of 81.
Born in 1927 in Hamburg, New York to Clifford and Ruth Scott, Bill was a retiree of Lehigh Portland Cement, Mitchell School Board member, Navy and Army veteran of the Korean War, former president of Mitchell Little League and the Lions’ Club, and member of Jacob Finger United Methodist Church and American Legion Cecil C. Martin Post #250.
He is survived by his daughter Nakeetah and 1 grandson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Oweetah.
Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00pm Saturday and again from 11:00am until time of service Sunday at Chastain.
