Virgil Rainey, 88, Bedford

Virgil Rainey of Bedford passed away Saturday morning at Garden Villa Nursing Home at the age of 88.


Born in 1920 in Bedford to Melvin and Harriett Rainey, Virgil was co-owner of Rainey Brothers Scrap Yard, Army veteran of World War II, and member of Englewood Baptist Church and American Legion Gillen Post 33.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, son Jack, daughters Judith and Martha, sister Lillian, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 4 siblings in infancy, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson.
Services will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00am at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville.
Visitation is from 4:00 until 8:00pm tonight at Day & Carter.
