Floyd Terrell, Jr. of Mitchell, known to friends and family as both “Peck” and the father of current Mitchell Mayor Dan Terrell, passed away Sunday morning at Medco Health and Rehabilitation Center in French Lick at the age of 82.
Born in 1935 in Lawrence County to Floyd and Gussie Terrell, Peck was an employee of General Motors, Donaldson Bakery, and owned and operated the Mitchell Bowling Lanes for several years, and was a Marine veteran of World War II, and member of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post #250 and Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his son Danny, daughters Twila, Nina and Teresa, brothers Tom and Larry, sisters Jenny, Connie, Luann, Susan, Joan and Mary, special friend Wanda, 18 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Rosemary, sisters Evelyn, Gladys, Imogene and Ardith, brothers James and Frederick, and 4 grandsons.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell wit burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00pm and again Wednesday morning from 9:00 until time of service at Chastain.
