INDIANAPOLIS – Explore the architecture, history, preservation, and tradition of 10 historic churches built between 1891 and 1929 in and around Indianapolis’s Old Northside neighborhood. Several of the churches will be open for interior views and dressed in holiday finery. Presented in partnership with Old Churches Indy and area congregations, this self-guided tour on Saturday, December 4, 2021 allows participants to go at their own pace, with church interiors open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Ticket holders may check-in at any time. However, we suggest planning for at least 3 hours to fully enjoy the experience, as it includes exploring 7 church interiors, several church exteriors, and travel between them. Advance ticket holders may check-in at any of the interior sites listed below to exchange their Eventbrite receipt for a tour ticket and program.
Advance tour tickets cost $20/adult (age 12 & up), $15/member of Indiana Landmarks, $10/child (ages 6-11), and are free to children age 5 and under. Day-of-tour tickets cost an additional $5 in each ticket price and may only be purchased at Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Avenue, Indianapolis.
Sites open for interior visitation include Indiana Landmarks Center, Episcopal Church of All Saints, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Joy of All Who Sorrow Orthodox Church, Psychic Science Spiritualist Church, Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, and the former All Souls Unitarian Church.
For a preview and deeper knowledge of some of the churches featured on the tour, be sure to attend our Old Churches Indy Talk by Lee Little on November 30.
Face coverings over the mouth and nose are required for tourgoers while inside churches. Psychic Science Spiritualist Church requests that visitors be vaccinated against COVID-19.
