National Weather Service Issues Red Flag Warning

(UNDATED) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. EST for all of Central Indiana.

Strong winds and low humidity will lead to dangerous fire conditions today.

Do not burn outdoors.

A downed power line sparked a wildland fire this morning on the Huron/Williams Road. Huron and Marion Township Fire Department responded to the fire.

Winds of 20-30 m.p.h. with gusts up to 50 m.p.h. are possible today.

Fires have already started to ignite across the area with a power line sparking a wildland fire in the 1700 block of Huron/Williams Road. Huron and Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to that fire. Power outages were reported in the area.

A hay bale fire was reported in Washington County at 11:21 a.m., sending the Jackson Township Fire Department to the scene. No word on what sparked that fire.

The Pierce-Polk, Franklin, and Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to a large field fire at 12:44 p.m. Thursday afternoon at 7984 East Blankenbaker Road.

In Brown County, firefighters were dispatched to a wildland fire that was threatening a residence. The fire was reported at 12:03 p.m. in the 800 block of Helmsburg Road.
