Louis William “Bill” Baker – Bedford

Louis William “Bill” Baker, 84, of Bedford, died at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born June 14, 1931, in Bedford, he was the son of Herschel and Helen (Bromn) Baker. He was a graduate of Indiana University and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married MaryAnn Child on August 23, 1952 and she preceded him in death on April 19, 2011. Bill worked for nineteen years at the Lawrence County Court House as the Veteran’s Service Officer, eight years at the Times-Mail and for thirty-six years at the Thornton Memorial Boys Club where he served as Assistant Director and then Director. He was a member of the Oolitic Church of Christ, Boys Club, Bedford Boat and Sportsman’s Club, Gillen Post #33 American Legion and the Mitchell Masonic Lodge #228 F & AM.
Survivors include a son, Scott Baker and wife, Dina, of Bedford; a daughter, Pam Kruse and husband, Doran, of Bedford; three grandsons, Devin and Dustin Kruse and fiancé, Keli, and Gavin Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
We know dad touched many lives through his life long years of service to the community. Rest assured he loved and appreciated God, his family and all of his many friends.
At his request, services will be private.
He asked that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County, the White River Humane Society or I.U. Hospice House in Bloomington.

Michael S. Boofer – Bedford
July 18, 1950 – February 8, 2016
Michael S. Boofer, 65, of Bedford, died at 8:42 am on Monday, February 08, 2016 at his residence.
Born July 18, 1950, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Edward D. and Beverly M. (Bowers) Boofer. He attended Arsenal Technical School in Indianapolis for three years, then graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1969. He had worked at General Electric and later worked for Crowder’s Pharmacy as a deliveryman.
Survivors include a daughter, Michelle Boofer of Bloomington; his mother, Beverly Boofer of Bedford; two sisters, Linda Grissom and husband, Tom, of Bloomington and Christine Pickett and husband, Greg, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Joyce Boofer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Brownstown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, February 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Bill G. Baker, 61, of Bedford, died at 3 a.m. on Monday, February 08, 2016 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.

Steven L. Acton – Springville
August 13, 1953-February 5, 2016
Steven L. Acton, 62, of Springville died at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at his residence in Florence, South Carolina.
Born August 13, 1953 in Lawrence County he was the son of George Edward and Jeanette Dorothy (Trueblood) Acton. He married Nancy Clark on July 7, 2007 and she survives. He worked as a sales engineer for Otis Elevator.
Survivors include his wife Nancy of Springville, one step son: Michael John Corps of Springville; two daughters: Stephanie Smith and her husband Matt of Greenfield, IN and Shallan Acton of Greenfield, IN; two sisters: Diane Acton of Bedford, and Lee Ann Anderson and her husband Mike of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with John Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, February 11th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Carrie Otto, 41, of Dansville, NY, died Sunday, Feb. 7th at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
