LAWRENCE COUNTY — Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County are learning how to make healthier lifestyle choices through G.O.A.L. University, a free Indiana University program that promotes nutrition and physical activity.
G.O.A.L., which stands for Get Onboard Active Living, provides Club Kids with hands-on opportunities to learn about healthy habits through weekly visits from Indiana University nursing students.
During each visit, IU nursing students work with Club members to explore topics related to healthy eating and physical activity. Lessons include interactive games, hands-on demonstrations, and activities designed to make learning about wellness engaging and accessible.

The program also encourages members to set personal goals, with prizes awarded when they reach their milestones.
Through these activities, students gain practical knowledge about nutrition and exercise while developing habits that can support their long-term health and well-being.
G.O.A.L. University also provides valuable experience for the participating nursing students, giving them an opportunity to practice teaching and apply concepts they are learning in the classroom.
The program creates a partnership that benefits both groups, allowing Club Kids to build healthy habits while IU students strengthen their skills in health education and community engagement.
By combining education, physical activity, and hands-on learning, G.O.A.L. University is helping young people at the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County discover that living a healthier lifestyle can be both fun and rewarding.
