Vocational Rehabilitation employment service system improvements

INDIANA – Over the last several months, the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) has been engaged with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Employment Service providers to discuss improvements in services for job seekers with disabilities. As a result, we will implement changes to the VR employment service structure in early Spring 2027.

An informational webinar will take place December 3, 2026, at 11am EST. Providers can join the webinar on December 3 by clicking here.

During this webinar, BRS will present information about upcoming employment system improvements, the training plan, and the implementation timeline. VR Employment service providers are encouraged to attend, including leadership, employment service supervisors, and employment consultants.

The employment service modifications promote outcome-driven payments while adding clarity and simplifying several practices based on stakeholder feedback and suggestions. These system improvements aim to accomplish the following goals:

  • Improve service intentionality
  • Increase employment outcomes
  • Simplify and reduce complexity
  • Improve consistency and clarity
  • Improve collaboration between local VR and provider teams

Please join the informational webinar on December 3, 2026, to learn about the upcoming improvements. More detailed training will occur in early 2027.
