BARGERSVILLE — An Indiana student is one step closer to achieving her educational dreams after winning a $10,000 education savings award through the Indiana529 Education Sweepstakes.
State Treasurer Daniel Elliott announced Evie Fleming of Bargersville as the winner of the $10,000 Indiana529 Education Sweepstakes on October 28. The award will be deposited into an Indiana529 account to help Fleming save for education and career opportunities after high school.

“I am so grateful for the blessing of this gift, which will help get me one step closer to my dream,” Fleming said.
Elliott congratulated Fleming and emphasized the importance of helping Hoosiers prepare financially for their futures.
“We’re excited to support Evie as she pursues her goals after high school,” Elliott said. “From college to trades and beyond, Indiana529 is a great financial tool for Hoosiers investing for the future.”
The sweepstakes attracted significant interest from across the state, receiving more than 22,000 entries this year.
“We’re proud to see so many Hoosiers thinking about and saving for future education and career training,” said Marissa Rowe, executive director of Indiana529.
Indiana529 is the state’s tax-advantaged education savings program, offering families a way to prepare for expenses associated with education and career training after high school. Funds can be used at eligible schools and registered apprenticeship programs both in Indiana and out of state.
Qualified expenses include tuition, books, computers, equipment, and fees. Accounts grow tax-deferred, and withdrawals are tax-free when used for qualifying education expenses.
Indiana taxpayers may also qualify for a state income tax credit equal to 20% of contributions to an Indiana529 account, worth up to $1,500 annually, or $750 for married couples filing separately.
As of September 30, 2026, Indiana529 had more than $9.3 billion in assets under management across more than 476,000 accounts.
