Digging accident disruption: Water service shut off in Jasonville; Boil order to follow

JASONVILLE — Residents across the Wabash Valley town of Jasonville were left without water on Monday after a digging incident severely damaged a primary water line.

According to Jasonville Utilities, crews with Mainstream Fiber accidentally struck and ruptured a municipal water line while conducting work in the area. Municipal workers were forced to temporarily shut off water service throughout the city to safely assess the damage and begin emergency repairs.

As of Monday, city officials have not provided an estimated timeline for when full service will be restored to affected households and businesses.

Local officials cautioned that once water service is turned back on, a precautionary boil water order will immediately go into effect. Residents will be advised to bring all water used for drinking, cooking, and making ice to a rolling boil for at least one minute until safety testing is completed and the order is lifted.
