ORLEANS — River View Farms, a fifth-generation family agriculture business, is launching one of Orange County’s largest business expansions in years. The major project will create 63 new jobs by the end of 2029 while expanding local crop-grower partnerships and grain purchases across the region.

Headquartered in Orleans, where the family has operated since the 1920s, the company is building a 60,000-square-foot egg grading and packaging facility on State Road 337. The state-of-the-art building will double the farm’s egg-grading capacity, streamline logistics, and lower operational risks. It will feature dedicated spaces for egg processing, packaging, cooler storage, dry materials, employee facilities, administrative offices, and food safety operations.
Construction on the egg facility is currently underway and slated for completion later this year. Following its completion, River View Farms plans to add a new swine breeding facility and a biosecurity wash designed to eliminate harmful pathogens.

According to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), the expansion will add 63 new positions spanning production, maintenance, operations, and supervisory roles. The growth will also allow the farm to purchase more local grain and deepen partnerships with area crop growers, providing a secondary economic boost to southern Indiana.
The expansion received key regional backing from Radius Indiana and the OCEDP’s Catalyst Fund. The fund supported specialized equipment to enhance retail packaging capabilities and enable specialized packaging formats.

“The farm and family are deeply connected to Orleans, so we are very proud to invest in the area to help support the community through growing job opportunities and economic development,” said Bryan Johnson, President of River View Farms. “We look forward to using our resources to make our community a better place to live and work for generations ahead.”
River View Farms currently employs over 200 Hoosiers. Across the state, Indiana’s agriculture sector supports more than 53,500 farms and contributes $35.1 billion to the state economy annually.
In addition to its main operations in Orleans, the diversified agricultural business operates an egg processing facility in Washington, Indiana, and a hog farm in Lincoln, Illinois, acquired in 2011.
