The planned 150,000-square-foot facility will feature advanced research laboratories, shared equipment and research infrastructure, business incubator space, collaboration areas and facilities supporting animal health and veterinary partners.

Purdue will serve as the institute’s academic and research anchor, connecting faculty, students and researchers with industry partners and entrepreneurs. Elanco will contribute its animal health expertise and scientific resources while helping connect research discoveries with the development and commercialization of new solutions.

The institute is intended to encourage collaboration across scientific disciplines, recognizing that human, animal, plant and environmental health are interconnected.

Purdue Interim President Mitch Daniels said the project supports the university’s land-grant mission while expanding its presence in Indianapolis and contributing to Indiana’s economic growth.

The institute is expected to create opportunities for research partnerships and innovation that could help address complex health challenges.
