Indiana opens registration for special youth, veteran, and military waterfowl hunts

INDIANA — Registration is now open for upcoming waterfowl hunting opportunities tailored specifically for youth, veterans, and active-duty military personnel across Indiana.

Starting in October, designated weekend hunts will give eligible participants early access to hunt ducks, geese, mergansers, and coots in specified zones throughout the state.

To participate in the youth hunts, hunters must be 17 years old or younger on the day of the hunt. Youth participants must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old and holds a valid Indiana hunting license.

For veteran and military opportunities, eligibility extends to both resident and nonresident veterans as defined under Title 38, Section 101 of the U.S. Code. Active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as active members of the National Guard and Reserves, are also qualified to participate.

Daily bag and species limits for these special weekend dates match standard regular-season regulations for ducks and geese, with one key exception: hunters are restricted to a daily limit of one scaup.
