BEDFORD — Bedford police have arrested a 65-year-old man in connection with a stabbing Sunday evening that left two people hospitalized.
Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore announced Tuesday that William E. Melvin II, 65, has been arrested and faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and battery with a deadly weapon.
The arrest stems from an incident reported at approximately 5:56 p.m. Sunday in the 710 block of 17th Street in Bedford. Officers responded to a report of a battery involving a weapon, and two people were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of apparent stab wounds.
Moore said detectives are continuing to finish the investigation.
Additional details surrounding the circumstances of the stabbing have not been released.
Melvin is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
