INDIANA – Under Indiana Governor Mike Braun’s leadership, Indiana’s unemployment rate has fallen to 3.3%, positioning the Hoosier state among the region’s lowest and well below the national rate of 4.1%.
Since Gov. Braun took office, the state’s unemployment rate has declined by 0.7 percentage points and reached its lowest level since May 2023.
Indiana also continues to outperform its neighboring states, with unemployment rates of 4.7% in Kentucky, 4.7% in Illinois, and 5% in Michigan. Ohio is tied with Indiana at 3.3%.
Indiana’s low unemployment rate is another indicator of the state’s economic momentum being driven by Gov. Braun. Continued business investment, employer confidence, and workforce initiatives are driving job growth while reinforcing Indiana’s position as one of the nation’s best places to work.

Indiana’s labor force also remains strong. The state’s labor force participation rate stands at 63%, well above the national average of 61.6%, reflecting continued workforce participation across the state.
