LAWRENCE COUNTY — The Lawrence County Election Board is scheduled to hold a public meeting next week to test voting equipment and address staffing for the upcoming election cycle.
The meeting will take place on Sept. 30, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office. The session is open to the public.
The primary agenda item is the public test of Microvote voting machines designated for the 2026 General Election. In addition to the equipment testing, the board will consider a resolution allowing students to participate as poll workers in the election, alongside any other election business that requires attention.
The Lawrence County Election Board consists of:
- John Williams, Jr. — Republican Board Member, appointed by Chase Cummings in March 2025.
- Rowena Cross-Najafi — Democrat Board Member, appointed by Clarice Guy in January 2025.
- Amy Voorhies — County Clerk and Secretary, elected in the 2024 General Election and serving since January 2025.
