Dick L. Hackney, 87, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born April 23, 1939, in Bedford, he was the son of Elmo and Eula (Nowling) Hackney. Dick married Sue Ray, and she survives.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Fort Ritner; two daughters, Sherry Hackney and Nickie Hackney; two sons, Daryl (Susie) Hackney and Troy “Hersh” (Cindy) Hackney; ten grandchildren, Amber, Devin, DJ, Mackenzie, Jason, Haley, Tiffany, Chelsey, Gary, Kristy; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Horner and Genevieve Thompson; one brother, Billie Hackney; one great-grandson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd, in Dixon Chapel Cemetery.
