FORT RITNER – The Lawrence County Highway Department announced upcoming road closures on Leesville Road to accommodate culvert replacement work.
Crews will begin work today, September 21, closing Leesville Road just north of the Fort Ritner intersection starting at 9:00 a.m. The road is expected to reopen later this afternoon upon completion of the initial repairs.
According to Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder, additional maintenance is scheduled for tomorrow, September 22, 2026. Leesville Road will be closed again from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m.
Drivers traveling through the area are advised to use Jasper McKeaigg Road and Grindstone Hollow Road as designated detour routes during the closure hours.
