Marion County judicial applicant interviews September 22-23

MARION COUNTY – On Tuesday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 23, the Marion County Judicial Selection Committee will conduct interviews with 26 applicants for two upcoming vacancies on the Marion County Superior Court.

The interviews will be held at the Marion County Community Justice Campus, Room C1162, 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Interviews are open to the public, with decorum rules in place. Members of the public should check in at the desk outside of the jury room on the first floor to be escorted up to the interview room.

After all interviews have concluded, the committee will deliberate in a private executive session to consider applications. The committee considers applicants’ legal education, writings, reputation in the practice of law, and other pertinent information. The executive sessions are authorized under IC 33-33-49-13.1(q) and IC 5-14.1-1.5. The committee vote (on two separate panels of five finalists) is held publicly following deliberations.

According to Indiana law, the committee is required to submit to the Governor “five of the most qualified candidates” for appointment when a vacancy arises. Details on the committee, including membership, are online.
