David M. Findlay honored as Sagamore of the Wabash

FRENCH LICK – David M. Findlay, chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association, has been honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Mike Braun. The award was presented by Rep. Craig Snow, R-Winona Lake, on Sunday, Sept. 13, during the chairman’s banquet at the IBA Annual Convention in French Lick. The Sagamore of the Wabash is given to exemplary Hoosiers in recognition of distinguished statewide service.

Findlay is chairman and CEO of Lake City Bank, Warsaw, and its holding company, Lakeland Financial Corporation. He joined the organization in 2000 as executive vice president and chief financial officer, and from 2010 to 2014 served as president and CFO. His banking career began at The Northern Trust Company, Chicago, serving in several capacities from 1984 to 1995, when he was a vice president in the commercial lending group. Before his time in banking, he served for five years with Quality Dining Inc., South Bend, concluding as senior vice president and CFO.

Findlay is active as a board member with organizations including the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, OrthoWorx, Orthopedic Capital Foundation, AcceLINX, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Trine University and Parkview Health. He is also on the advisory board for Centerfield Capital Partners.

“David has been described by his colleagues as intensely curious, a strong listener and communicator, a phenomenal banker, and a leader who cares deeply about mentoring the next generation of industry leaders,” said Amber R. Van Til, president and CEO of the IBA. “He is also incredibly proud to be a Hoosier and to have this opportunity to represent his industry and his state by serving as IBA chairman this year. We are certainly proud to call him one of our own.”

Findlay is a member of the Indiana Bankers Association’s Leaders in Banking Excellence Class of 2019, the Association’s highest honor. He is a graduate of DePauw University.
