INDIANA — Wheel Pros, LLC has issued a safety recall for certain Avix TrailTek RT light truck tires due to a sidewall labeling error that fails to comply with federal safety standards.
The recall affects size 35X12.50R20LT tires. According to a notification from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the tires were improperly stamped with the phrase “Not for Highway Use” on the sidewall.
Because of the incorrect labeling, the tires fail to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.” Federal regulators warned that driving on incorrectly labeled tires could increase the risk of a crash.
Wheel Pros has already addressed the compliance issue by replacing all affected tires free of charge.
