Jerry Lee Floerke, 72, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 11, 1954. Jerry was the son of Myra Mae and the late LeRoy “Bud” Floerke. He married Tera Deckard Floerke on April 7, 2001, and she survives. Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He worked for the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy from 1979 to 1986. He retired from IN/KY Carpenters Local Union #301. He was a former member of the Mitchell Masonic Lodge #228 F&AM and the Scottish Rite.
Jerry was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed helping others and camping, fishing, and hunting. He will be remembered for his fun-loving personality. He really enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed vacationing, especially in Jamaica. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
Jerry learned at 58 that he had early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Despite this difficult diagnosis at such a young age, Jerry continued to face each day and challenge with a positive attitude, showing strength, courage, and a determination to make the most of every moment.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Tera; his mother, Myra Mae Floerke, of Bedford; his brother, Jim (Katie) Floerke of Williams; his sisters, Claudia Aycock, Patty Poole, and Karen (Doyle) James; his four children, Robin (Dave) Smith, Jeremy (Melanie) Floerke, Jesse Floerke, and Jerred Floerke; grandchildren, Corbin, Brylie, Alex, Garrett, Cheznie, Kaitlynn, Trenton, Sophia, and Alex. Along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, IN, with Pastor Philip Thorne officiating. Entombment will follow at Fayetteville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial donations may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Mitchell Masonic Lodge #228, Free and Accepted Masons.
