SEYMOUR — A 37-year-old man died over the weekend after being struck by a vehicle in Seymour, according to local authorities.
Officers with the Seymour Police Department were dispatched shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, to the 1000 block of North O’Brien Street following reports of a pedestrian collision.
Upon arrival, emergency responders located an unresponsive man in the roadway, identified as 37-year-old Emanuel Nava-Martinez. Police and emergency medical personnel immediately performed life-saving measures at the scene. Nava-Martinez was subsequently transported to Schneck Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. The driver voluntarily submitted to a blood draw, which authorities noted is standard procedure in Indiana following any fatal or serious crash.
As of publication, no arrests have been made, and no criminal charges have been filed. The Seymour Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
