LAWRENCE COUNTY – A new coloring book project is giving Lawrence County businesses, families, schools, and community organizations an opportunity to showcase what makes the area special while putting a local resource in the hands of children.
Coloring Lawrence County is an upcoming community-focused coloring book designed to highlight Lawrence County and the people, places, and businesses that help make the community unique.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade within the Lawrence County community will receive a free, donated copy of the book. Copies will also be provided to teachers, principals, civic leaders, businesses, and others.
Organizers say the project is intended to be more than a traditional coloring book. It is designed as a celebration of Lawrence County while providing families and schools with an engaging way to learn about their hometown.
Businesses and other participants will have an opportunity to be featured in the book with artwork and details intended to represent who they are and their connection to the community.
The project offers several benefits, organizers said, including celebrating community pride, creating a lasting keepsake for local families and providing teachers with an additional classroom resource.
The book is also intended to help students learn more about their own community while encouraging connections between local businesses, schools and families.
Examples shown in promotional materials from similar county coloring books include local businesses and community organizations incorporated into custom illustrations, giving children an opportunity to color while learning about places and people in their communities.
