Charles Allen Smith, 66, of Bedford, passed away on August 23, 2026, in Bloomington.
Born June 17, 1960, in Lautzenhausen, Germany, he was the son of Arthur D. and Jimmy N. (Funderburk) Smith. He retired as a Communication Specialist from Texas Gas and was an Air Force Veteran. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandchildren, who called him Grandad.
He is survived by his children, Courtney (Les) Center of Morristown, Tennessee, Hunter (Abbey) Smith of Bedford, Charles Matthew (Jacey) Smith of Aurora, Indiana; grandchildren, Braylie, Colton, Weston, Elsie, Beau, Nellie, Emmalynn, Jameson; and a brother, Art (Margaret) Smith of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th, at Day & Carter Mortuary, with military rites accorded by American Legion Gillen Post 33. Visitation will take place from Noon until the time of service.
