WILLIAMS — A 59-year-old Williams resident is facing multiple felony drug dealing charges following an undercover investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section.
Steven R. Thorp has been charged in Lawrence Superior Court with a Level 4 felony count of dealing in methamphetamine and a Level 5 felony count of dealing in methamphetamine.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by ISP Detective Michael Z. Robbins, the investigation began in April 2026 after undercover officers were contacted by a confidential informant regarding alleged drug sales at Thorp’s residence.
Court documents outline two separate controlled purchases orchestrated by State Police investigators:
In April 2026, under the supervision of Detective Robbins and Detective Chance Humphrey, a confidential informant visited Thorp’s home on Stumphole Bridge Road. Equipped with audio and video recording equipment and using documented buy money, the informant purchased less than one gram of a substance from Thorp that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
In May 2026, the informant contacted officers after arranging to purchase a “ball” of methamphetamine from Thorp. During a second monitored transaction at the same residence, the informant purchased between one and five grams of a substance that also field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Detectives noted in the affidavit that Thorp was positively identified as the seller in audio and video recordings captured during both operations.
The seized evidence was submitted to the Indiana State Police Evidence Storage facility for official laboratory analysis.
