BLOOMINGTON — For more than 50 years, Don Fischer’s iconic voice has delivered the soundtrack to Indiana University athletics, calling iconic championships, heart-stopping buzzer-beaters, and unforgettable game-winning drives. Now, Indiana Public Media is highlighting his storied career in a new documentary, Timeless: Don Fischer’s Half-Century Broadcasting IU Sports.
The documentary premieres on WTIU on August 28 at 6:30 p.m., but fans will get an early chance to celebrate the hall-of-fame broadcaster at a historic venue.
Exclusive Sneak Peek Screening at Assembly Hall
Ahead of the statewide television broadcast, a free sneak peek screening will take place in the very venue where many of Fischer’s legendary calls originated:

For many Hoosiers, Don Fischer’s voice is inseparable from the memories that define IU athletics. This documentary is a celebration of his extraordinary career, but also of the fans and traditions that have made Indiana University athletics so meaningful for generations.
Behind the Mic
Timeless explores Fischer’s unlikely journey to becoming the “Voice of the Hoosiers”. Through archival footage, rare historic radio broadcasts, personal reflections, and interviews, the film captures the enduring bond between the broadcaster, Indiana University, and generations of fans.
Statewide Community Screening Tour
Following the television debut, Indiana Public Media will host a series of free community screenings across the state throughout September. Select stops will feature special guest appearances, Q&A sessions, IU-themed activities, and fan experiences.
