BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Common Council will begin its annual review of the proposed 2027 municipal budget this week, hosting four nights of departmental hearings starting Monday, August 17.
The hearings will take place across four sessions—Monday, Aug. 17; Wednesday, Aug. 19; Monday, Aug. 24; and Wednesday, Aug. 26—with each meeting scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
During the sessions, city department heads will present their requested operating budgets and answer questions regarding expected revenues, expenditures, and community programs.
- Night 1 (Monday, Aug. 17): Features opening remarks from the Mayor’s Office and Controller, followed by presentations from Fire, Police (including Central Dispatch), Community and Family Resources (CFRD), and Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND).
- Night 2 (Wednesday, Aug. 19): Focuses on Planning & Transportation, Engineering, Street, Parking, and Utilities.
- Night 3 (Monday, Aug. 24): Covers Parks & Recreation, Economic & Sustainable Development (ESD), Public Works Administration, Animal Shelter, Facilities, Fleet, and Sanitation.
- Night 4 (Wednesday, Aug. 26): Concludes with the Capital Improvement Board (CIB), City Clerk, Common Council, Office of the Mayor, Office of the Controller, Legal and Risk Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology Services (ITS).
