MEDORA — Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) joined in the presentation of a $750,000 grant as part of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ Wastewater and Drinking Water Program to the town of Medora today.
The grant money will be used to rehabilitate the town’s aging wastewater collection system, which was originally built in 1961. The improvements to the wastewater system will help protect public health and provide relief for Medora residents experiencing sewage backups and drainage failures.
“Many small towns in Indiana have an inadequate water supply and outdated wastewater systems. The Wastewater and Drinking Water Program helps ensure these communities can improve the quality of drinking water and wastewater in Indiana through grant funding,” said Senator Koch. “I want to thank the Medora Town Council and their president Brad McCammon for applying for this grant and making the health of their community a top priority.”
Koch is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Utilities, ranking member of the Senate committees on Commerce and Technology and Judiciary, and a member of the Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law. He represents Senate District 44, which includes Brown, Jackson, Lawrence and Orange counties, and a portion of Monroe County.
