HAMMOND – Indiana Governor Mike Braun, Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard Larry Muennich, Superintendent of State Police Anthony Scott, and Department of Homeland Security Executive Director Jonathan Whitham will join first responders and local officials to assess severe storm damage and coordinate necessary resources.
Governor Braun has directed the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to lead our state’s response efforts in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Indiana State Police, Indiana National Guard, Indiana Department of Transportation, and the Indiana Department of Correction.
He will meet with the public today at 12:30 CT at the Hammond Central Fire Station at 6110 Calumet Avenue in Hammond.
Severe storms, including apparent tornadoes, went through various parts of Indiana Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Indiana Task Force 1 has been deployed to the northwest Indiana community of Lake Village in Newton County.

The National Weather Service Chicago office confirmed a tornado near Wheatfield, Indiana, from Tuesday night’s line of storms.
