GREENE COUNTY — Law enforcement officials in Greene County are investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead on Thursday evening.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, emergency dispatchers received reports of gunfire at approximately 9:31 p.m. along State Road 59 South, near the intersection of County Road 200 South.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding deputies located one individual who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Friday, authorities have withheld the victim’s name, age, and gender pending identification and full notification of next of kin.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is leading the homicide inquiry in close coordination with detectives from the Indiana State Police and investigators with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office.
