Judith “Judy” Elaine Terry, 84, formerly of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Redcrest Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born November 8, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of Robert Elmo Wilson and Melba Deboil Creech-Wilson. She married James Edwin “Jim” Terry on August 25, 1962, and he survives.
Judy graduated from Paoli High School in 1959, received a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana State University in 1963, and later a master’s degree from Indiana University. Retiring in 2019, Judy was an educator for 54 years. She spent 34 of those years in elementary classrooms, and 20 years traveling to elementary and middle schools teaching English as a Second Language. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the First Baptist Church in Bedford.
Surviving to cherish Judy’s memory is her husband, Jim; daughter, Jama (Brad) Dale; son, Jason (Fiona) Terry; grandchildren, Kara (David) Paynter, Adam (Ella) Dale, Anna (Riley) Callahan, Nathan (Isabel) Dale, and Isadora Terry; great grandchildren, Lillian, Jeremiah, Isabella, Zachariah, Levi, Isaiah and Gideon Paynter, and Kinsley Callahan; and two brothers, Keith and David Wilson.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Melba Wilson.
Funeral services for Judy will be held at Noon on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the First Baptist Church, at 1515 20th Street in Bedford, IN, with Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens, Dixie Highway, Bedford. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, and on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at the First Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be made in Judy’s memory to the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
