Linton woman critically injured in rollover crash near Stanford

STANFORD A 60-year-old Linton woman remains in critical condition following a single-vehicle rollover crash late Thursday morning along West State Road 45 in Monroe County.

First responders were dispatched to the scene near the intersection of West State Road 45 and Stanford Road, in the town of Stanford, shortly before noon on July 30.

According to preliminary findings by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was driving a silver Mitsubishi Outlander westbound on State Road 45 when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The SUV subsequently overturned, trapping her inside.

Firefighters arriving at the scene successfully extricated the driver from the wreckage. Emergency medical personnel then rushed her to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

The Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team has taken over the case to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the road.
