Brain health program planned for Sept. 29 at Mitchell Community Public Library

MITCHELL — Community members are invited to learn how healthy lifestyle choices may help protect cognitive function during an upcoming brain health presentation hosted by the Rural Dementia Network.

The free program, titled “Brain Health with the Rural Dementia Network,” will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Mitchell Community Public Library.

The educational session will focus on the latest research surrounding brain health and the everyday habits that may help delay or prevent cognitive decline as people age. Participants will learn about the key pillars of brain health and how lifestyle choices can influence long-term cognitive wellness.

Organizers say research indicates that taking action early through simple lifestyle changes may reduce the risk of cognitive decline and promote healthier aging.

Dinner will be provided for those who attend.

The program is open to individuals ages 15 and older, but advance registration is required.

To register, call 812-849-2412. Questions about the event may be directed by email to LScott24@iuhealth.org.

The event is being presented through the Rural Dementia Network in partnership with the Mitchell Community Public Library as part of ongoing efforts to increase awareness and education about dementia and brain health in rural communities.
