TAYLORSVILLE — Boston-based Grillo’s Pickles officially cut the ribbon on its new $54 million manufacturing facility in Bartholomew County, marking a major expansion for the fast-growing refrigerated pickle brand.
The 155,000-square-foot facility is located at 10990 Hubler Drive near the Interstate 65 and U.S. 31 interchange, adjacent to the Indiana Premium Outlets in Edinburgh. The plant currently employs roughly 110 workers, with plans to expand its workforce to 150 employees as additional production lines come online over the next 12 to 18 months. Company officials projected average hourly wages to range between $20 and $30 (averaging around $25.57 per hour).
Expanding Capacity for a Growing National Brand
Founded in 2008 as a small pickle cart on Boston Common, Grillo’s Pickles has grown into one of the nation’s top refrigerated pickle brands. Because the company uses a cold-pickling process free of artificial preservatives, its products must remain refrigerated throughout production, shipping, and retail display.
The Taylorsville location gives the company a central Midwestern hub to meet surging national demand for its pickle spears, chips, whole pickles, and “Pickle de Gallo.”

Part of a $230 Million Regional Food Manufacturing Hub
The new pickle production plant is part of a broader, multi-phase food manufacturing campus spearheaded by parent company Irresistible Foods Group (IFG).
IFG also owns King’s Hawaiian, which has announced plans to build an adjacent $175 million, 300,000-square-foot bakery facility on the site. Together, the two facilities represent nearly $230 million in combined economic development for northern Bartholomew County.
To support the campus development, state and local authorities approved significant infrastructure and tax incentive packages:
- Local Tax Phase-In: Bartholomew County approved a 10-year property tax abatement for Grillo’s valued at approximately $1.2 million.
- State Performance Credits: The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) committed up to $1.4 million in conditional, performance-based tax credits tied to job creation targets.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: Local officials pledged up to $3.75 million for regional water, sewer, and road utility work, supplemented by $1 million in Indiana READI 2.0 grant funding for nearby roadway improvements near U.S. 31, Bear Lane, and County Road 700 North.
Grillo’s is actively hiring for remaining open roles at the Taylorsville plant, including positions in production, warehousing, maintenance, engineering, and administration.
