FRENCH LICK — Several members of the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Daviess County Central Dispatch were formally recognized for their extraordinary courage and dedication to public safety on Wednesday, receiving prestigious Lifesaving Awards during the annual Indiana Sheriff’s Association Conference in French Lick.
The state-level honors recognize first responders and correctional staff whose quick thinking, bravery, and decisive action directly saved lives across Daviess County over the past year.
Among those honored were patrol personnel, emergency dispatch staff, and corrections officers who stepped up during critical moments:

- Deputy Tyler Ramsey: Awarded a Lifesaving Award for his remarkable bravery and rapid response during a treacherous water rescue in July 2025.
- Deputy William Webster: Recognized for his exceptional duty and compassionate response while de-escalating a situation involving an individual experiencing a severe mental health crisis.
- Dispatcher Sylvester Maang: Honored for his outstanding composure, active listening, and crucial telecommunications work from Daviess County Central Dispatch during a high-stakes mental health emergency.

Corrections Officers Saved One of Their Own
The ceremony also highlighted the life-saving teamwork displayed inside the county jail walls. Four members of the Daviess County corrections team were presented with Lifesaving Awards after taking immediate action when a fellow officer suffered a medical emergency on duty:
- Corrections Officer Jason Baker
- Corrections Officer Angela Divine
- Corrections Officer Claude Williams
- Corrections Officer Owen McCracken

Together, Officers Baker, Divine, Williams, and McCracken responded swiftly when a colleague went down, rendering critical aid until emergency medical services arrived, ultimately saving their fellow officer’s life.
