Dr. Robyn Embry, 60, of Bedford, IN, passed on Saturday, July 18, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Robyn was born in Logansport, IN, to a large and loving family. She attended Purdue, where she met the love of her life, Phil. She was a lifelong educator who took immense pride in her work, eventually earning her PhD in STEM education in 2025. She taught science at Mitchell High School for 28 years, along with shorter tenures at IU and Ivy Tech. She was also developing environmental science videos for Purdue, developing AP Biology curriculum for the College Board, and an educator Master Ambassador for the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation.
Robyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend. She was a strong believer and member of Avoca Baptist Church.
She will be missed by her husband of 36 years, Phil Embry; four children, Ben (McKenna) Embry, Rachel (Ben) Brumfield, Sam Embry, and Abby (Ryker) Large; four grandchildren (plus one on the way); five siblings, Mike (Kathy) Kline, Sharon (Dave) Raypole, Kay (Marcus) Synder, Dave (Nancy) Kline, and Lori (Dan) Cash; sister-in-law, Pam (Levi) Nigg, many nieces andnephews, and too many friends to count.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Joan Kline.
Please join us in celebrating Robyn’s life at Indian Creek Baptist Camp on Saturday, August 1. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation and fellowship to follow from Noon to 4:00 p.m.
Casual dress is appropriate.
Instead of flowers, donations should be directed in Robyn’s memory to Indian Creek Baptist Camp or Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
