ORANGE COUNTY — As local communities prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the Orange County America 250 Committee is keeping a watchful eye on a challenging weather forecast.

Committee Chairman Robert Henderson, along with fellow committee members, confirmed they are monitoring meteorological updates closely ahead of the scheduled July 4th festivities. With weather models predicting a wave of extreme heat and humidity for the weekend, organizers are shifting their focus toward public safety.
The primary concern centers around the traditional Independence Day ceremonies, which are scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday on the Orange County Courthouse lawn. Because the event will take place entirely outdoors during peak morning heating, Henderson is asking all attendees, participants, and volunteers to plan and take strict, proactive precautions against the excessive heat.
Safety Guidelines for Attendees
To ensure a safe environment for everyone gathered on the courthouse lawn, the committee has issued the following health and comfort recommendations:
- Hydrate Constantly: Drink plenty of water before arriving, and bring additional fluids to stay well-hydrated throughout the morning.
- Dress for Comfort: Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, and light-colored clothing, as well as wide-brimmed hats to block direct sunlight.
- Know Your Limits: Individuals who are highly sensitive to heat-related illnesses, older adults, young children, and those with underlying medical conditions are strongly urged to avoid spending extended periods of time outside on Saturday.

“The Orange County America 250 Committee wants everyone to have a safe, memorable, and happy 4th,” Henderson stated, emphasizing that celebrating the nation’s milestone shouldn’t come at the expense of personal health. He urged the public to apply these safety measures to any of the various America 250 events unfolding across the country over the holiday weekend.
