COLUMBUS— A Monday morning shooting has left one man dead after a reported confrontation inside a residence on the city’s east side.

The Columbus Police Department responded to an emergency call at approximately 9:06 a.m. regarding a shooting in the 3000 block of Wedgewood Drive, located near the intersection of Taylor Road and 25th Street.
According to authorities, the individual who placed the 911 call informed dispatchers that he had shot a man who allegedly attacked him. Law enforcement has not yet released the identity of the caller or specified their relationship to the deceased.
Upon arriving at the scene, CPD officers quickly secured the perimeter and began administering first aid to the gunshot victim. Emergency medical personnel rushed to the residence shortly after, but despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and patrol officers remain on-site as they piece together the events that led to the fatal altercation. While initial details from the caller point toward a case of self-defense following an alleged attack, police are treating the incident as an ongoing investigation to verify the sequence of events.
