Sergeant Seth Rainey named Evansville District Public Information Officer

EVANSVILLE – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony M. Scott has announced the reassignment of Sergeant Seth Rainey from the Employment Services and Recruiting Section to the Evansville District, where he will serve as the District Public Information Officer.

Sergeant Rainey is a native of Mt. Vernon and a 2003 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He attended Ball State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2007 and was a member of the Cardinals football team.

Rainey graduated from the Indiana State Police 69th Recruit Academy in December 2008 and was assigned to the Lowell District, where he patrolled Porter and LaPorte counties. In April 2010, he transferred to the Evansville District, where he served for nearly 12 years. Throughout his career, Rainey has served in a variety of assignments, including patrol, K-9 operations, and served on the District Tactical Intervention Platoon. He is a graduate of the Indiana State Police Leadership Academy and received a Lifesaving Award for assisting in the successful resuscitation of a motorist who became unresponsive while stopped in traffic in Evansville.

In 2022, Rainey was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the Employment Services and Recruiting Section. During his assignment, he worked closely with recruiting initiatives and community outreach efforts throughout Indiana while developing partnerships with educational institutions, military organizations, and community groups. He also represented the department through media interviews, public presentations, recruiting events, and other community engagement opportunities.

As the Evansville District Public Information Officer, Rainey will serve as the primary media liaison for the district and will be responsible for coordinating media relations, public information efforts, recruiting initiatives, and community outreach programs throughout the Evansville District.

Sergeant Rainey resides in Posey County with his wife, Rachel, and their five children.
