Obituary: Carol Sue Wright

March 5, 1940 – June 17, 2026

Carol Sue Wright, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away on June 17, 2026, at her residence following a brief battle with cancer.

Born March 5, 1940, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of Romia V. and Mabel M. (Todd) Mitchell. She married the love of her life, Standley Wright, on April 9, 1960, and he preceded her in death on September 14, 2024. She missed him every day. They were happily married for 64 years.

Carol graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1958. She worked at the Fayetteville Store from age 9 until starting to raise a family. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was guided in life by her Christian principles and her faith in God.

Carol loved gardening, knitting, sewing, and crocheting. For years, she would knit Christmas ornaments for the residents of Johnson Lane. She was a member of the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary for many years and worked tirelessly alongside her husband to make the department a better place. Her home was spotless and welcoming. She touched the lives of many.

Survivors include sons, Stan Wright and wife, Donna, of Eureka; Monty Wright and wife, Nikki, of Fayetteville; a daughter, Michelle Mosier, of Springville; a grandson, Branson Hudson; sisters Sharon Hanners, of Williams, and Linda Crane, of Judah; many friends; and her dog, Polly. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Robert Lee Mitchell.

Carol chose cremation, and per her wishes, there will be no services.

The family asks that friends consider making memorial contributions in Carol’s memory to the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department or the White River Humane Society.
